For members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, this is not news to you. For those who are not members of our church, who may be interested to know, the Prophet and President of the "Mormon" church died today (1/27/08) at the age of 97. I still remember the day the previous prophet died. It was 1995. I found out while I was at work and realized that Gordon B. Hinckley would be the new prophet. I didn't know a whole lot about him. Over these 12 years I have grown to love this man so, so much. He truly had a love for the Savior, for the gospel of Jesus Christ, and for the people of our church, located throughout the whole world. He was funny and witty, loved his wife enormously, and always spoke so highly of women and the divine role that we play in this world. He will be greatly missed. I am so grateful to be a member of this Church and to have a prophet to lead and guide us. I am also grateful to know that even though he has passed on, this Church will continue to thrive and go forth as it has from the beginning. God, our Heavenly Father, and His Son, Jesus Christ, are at the head of it and that will remain constant as the years pass and our leaders do, too.
